Tulip Time Announces Top 20 for Annual Poster Art Contest 2022

First Bloem Competition Reveals Diverse, Expressive Finalists for Official Poster

HOLLAND, Mich., Nov. 15, 2021 - Tulip Time announces the Top 20 finalists for the annual First Bloem Festival Artwork Competition, through which a work of art is selected for the official Tulip Time poster.

After carefully reviewing more than 100 stunning submissions, the Top 20 finalists for 2022 include:

The winner of the 2022 poster will be announced on Feb. 24, 2022  at the First Bloem Reveal, a special unveiling reception for the generous sponsors of Tulip Time. Following the event, posters, mugs, ornaments, and much more will be available for purchase at store.tuliptime.com.

“Every artist should be incredibly proud of their work," said Gwen Auwerda, executive director for Tulip Time. “Each piece was unique to the artist's style and told its own story and important message. We're grateful for the enthusiasm from local artists as we eagerly continue preparations for a robust return this spring.”

Each year, Tulip Time invites a juror to select the Top 20 pieces for First Bloem. Mary Sundstrom, visual artist and exhibitions director of the Holland Area Arts Council is the 2022 juror.

The First Bloem Festival Artwork Competition began in 2011 for local West Michigan artists. Residents of Ottawa, Allegan, Kent, Muskegon and Kalamazoo counties are invited to enter. The theme of the artwork must represent Tulip Time’s mission of celebrating Holland’s tulips, Dutch heritage, and the Holland community past, present, and future.

Celebrating 93 years, the Tulip Time Festival is May 7-15, 2022, offering new, unique experiences and time-honored traditions.
