Announcing Expanded Tulip Immersion Garden, Street Scrubbing, Costume Sale, Potted Tulip Sale, and Quilt Raffle

HOLLAND, Mich. – March 14, 2023

Tulip Time Festival, Inc. is in its’ final phases of planning before the festival this year, and we are happy to announce an expanded Tulip Immersion Garden, Tulip Time Costume Sale, the Potted Tulip Sale, the annual quilt raffle, and call for participation in Street Scrubbing.

Tulip Immersion Garden – new location with added events in one location

The Tulip Immersion Garden delighted 14,000 people during last year’s festival and sold out the first weekend it was open. This year the garden has expanded from 50,000 flowers to 65,000 flowers, creating premium photo opportunities and memorable experiences. Visitors can learn about the history of the tulip and how it came to West Michigan. Also learn the history of the fine, hand-painted, blue, and white artwork known as Delft. Guests will also be able to enjoy a Dutch souvenir and food shop on site.

The Tulip Immersion Garden is moving to a new site this year. It will be located on the scenic Beechwood Church campus. The Tulip Time Quilt Show will be located inside Beechwood Church.

Quilt Show and Quilt Raffle

March 18 is National Quilting Day. In honor of National Quilting Day, Tulip Time announces its annual quilt raffle. Each year, a custom quilt is designed, appliqued, stitched, and quilted then raffled off to support the future of Tulip Time exhibits.

Each year the Quilt Show Committee creates a raffle quilt. Sally Leep and Cheryl Zylman constructed this year’s quilt. The machine quilting was longarm quilted by Cheri Aardema. The 48” square quilt is made up of 25 blocks of appliqued tulips of vibrant colors of Batiks. There are “Forget Me Not” flowers and green leaves accenting the tulips. Every other block is made up of a machine-quilted feather motif. Raffle tickets will be available for purchase at the Apothecary Gift Shop in downtown Holland and the Tulip Time office beginning in April, and the Tulip Time Quilt Show. Proceeds from the raffle will support future Tulip Time exhibits.

This year’s quilt will be revealed on April 25 and will be on display at the Apothecary Gift Shop, in downtown Holland. The winner will be drawn and announced on May 15th at 10 am.

Tulip bulbs can be reused the following year as well. The annual Pre-festival Tulip Sale benefits future Tulip Time programs and events so we can continue to bring amazing exhibitions like the Tulip Immersion Garden and the Showband Crescendo bicycle band in years to come.
