Dutch Organ Concert
Dutch Organ Music Old and New (1521–2021!)
Organ music has a long history in the Netherlands — the oldest organ in that country, in the village of Oosthuizen, is at least 500 years old! At the same time, Dutch composers alive today continue to write music for the organ, influenced by jazz, rock and popular music. Join Rhonda Sider Edgington (Organist at Hope Church in Holland, Instructor at Calvin University, and International Concert Artist) as she shows off these many different voices of the Dutch pipe organ. She’ll be joined this year by Jonathan Ruffer, (a member of St. Andrew’s Cathedral Brass and the Hope College faculty) presenting Dutch pieces for organ and trumpet. Concertgoers can expect once again to be guided through the centuries, styles, and composers by Rhonda’s helpful, gracious, and witty commentary.
