Frontier Quartet -- Barbershop Harmony Society’s 2018 International Next-Generation Varsity Quartet Champion -- is the first quartet from the Pioneer District (Michigan-Ontario area) to win this youth quartet competition. Formed in March of 2015 while college students, this foursome quickly meshed to capture their first Pioneer District Championship, and in 2017 ranked 35th in the world in their very first International contest. Singing with a unique style, sophistication and humor, they are sure to appeal to aspiring young vocalists here.
Lakeshore Community Chorus was formed in 2010 in Saugatuck-Douglas to share the joy of performing an eclectic menu of high quality choral music. The Chorus began with 24 men and women and now features around 40 members, drawing singers from South Haven to Grand Haven. It performs concerts in December and May each year, often making music with local school and community choruses and instrumentalists, and has become a well-loved part of the lakeshore’s art scene. The Chorus is directed by its co-founder Nancy Plantinga of Douglas, who holds a bachelor and master’s degree in music education and has served as a teacher, conductor, and clinician throughout the U.S. and Canada.
