Dutch Costume Exhibit & Dutch Market Premieres in 2021

HOLLAND, Mich, April 15, 2021 – Tulip Time Festival (www.tuliptime.com) announces the premiere of the Dutch Costume Exhibit & Dutch Market.

Traditionally, the Civic Center has served host to Dutch Marktplaats, an event offering entertainment, Dutch Dance performances and costume style show, Dutch-inspired goods and food. However, this year, COVID safety protocols preclude the offering of many of those elements. This presented the opportunity to introduce a new event – Dutch Costume Exhibit & Dutch Market.

The Dutch Costume Exhibit, originally scheduled to debut in 2020, has now become a central feature of this new event. Tulip Time Dutch Dancers wear costumes that represent eight of the twelve provinces in the Netherlands. This exhibit features these intricately designed, beautiful, handmade costumes as well as other Dutch Dance artifacts.

A Dutch Costume book was created to accompany this exhibit. The book includes details on all of the costumes and the Provinces of their origin. It has been beautifully illustrated by two local artists. Their original costume paintings will be available for sale.

Longtime favorite, Rick Klompmaker, will demonstrate the craft of carving wooden shoes. Browse educational displays presented by local museums, select and order your favorite tulip bulbs, shop Dutch inspired goods and Tulip Time merchandise for that perfect souvenir at the Dutch market.

Visitors will also have the opportunity to browse through the History of the Tulip Time Poster exhibit, featuring the full collection from 1982 to present. Many of the past year’s posters are available for purchase. Select a favorite poster or round out your collection while taking advantage of special festival pricing ranging from $5 to $20.

This event will be held Sat., May 1 through Sat., May 8 from 10a-4p, at the Holland Civic Center Place. Timed tickets of $8 per person are required for this event and are available online for advance purchase.
