Join the Dance!
The Tulip Time Festival proudly celebrates our Dutch heritage, our warm and welcoming community, and of course—our beloved tulips! Together, we create a world-class festival that brings joy to more than half a million visitors each year.
We invite you to support one of our most iconic traditions—Dutch Dance.
Each Dutch Dance costume is a work of art, authentically modeled after historical attire from the provinces of the Netherlands. Creating these garments is no small task—each one can take up to 15 hours to sew, with some requiring as many as eight separate pieces. On average, each costume costs about $300 to complete.
The Join the Dance Initiative helps make participation possible for all. This ongoing fund provides Dutch costumes for students eager to take part in this cherished tradition. With over 700 dancers joining the program each year, Tulip Time’s goal is to fund 400 costumes for local students—ensuring everyone has the chance to celebrate our heritage, together.
$25 — The Step: Helps supply wooden shoes for a dancer.
$50 — The Rhythm: Helps supply accessories and hats for a dancer.
$150 — The Fabric: Covers the full costume cost for one dancer's costume fabric.
$300 — The Music: Covers the full costume cost for one dancer joining the Dutch Dance tradition.
$600 —The Tradition: Covers the full costume cost for a pair of dancers joining the Dutch Dance tradition.
$3,600 — The Legacy: Empowers a full group of dancers to take the street in celebration—your generosity keeps the magic of Tulip Time alive.
