Tulip Time Announces Call for Artists for 15th Annual First Bloem Art Competition

HOLLAND, Mich. – [June 18, 2024], Tulip Time Festival (www.tuliptime.com) announces the fifteenth First Bloem poster competition. Local artists will have another opportunity to have their artwork selected as the official 2024 Tulip Time poster. The deadline for entry is October 5, 2024.

The juror for the 2025 contest, Button Gallery owner Michael Burmeister, will select the top 20 pieces from all the entries. From the top 20 pieces selected by Burmeister, one winner will be selected as the official Tulip Time poster artwork and will be available for purchase following its’ unveiling in February 2025.

Recent winners of the competition include John Cowden (2024), Kristin Doversberger (2023), Kate Moynihan (2022), Aron Lowe (2020) and Carolyn Stich (2019). As part of the competition, the top 20 artists’ works will be on display during the May festival and viewers can vote on their favorite. The winner of the most votes will receive the People’s Choice Award.

Artists may submit up to three works, (original, unframed, 16” x 20”), for a single $35 entry fee.

Michael Burmeister holds an MFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art, and a BAA in Fine Arts with a major in Photography and a minor in Art History from Central Michigan University. Michael is currently the Owner and Director of Button Gallery in Douglas, MI. Previously as Adjunct Professor and Exhibition Preparator, Michael taught numerous Fine Art courses and worked on highly exclaimed exhibitions in both Pennsylvania and Illinois. His work has been exhibited regionally and nationally at colleges and universities, galleries, and museums. Michael resides in Fennville, MI with his wife and two daughters.
